Established lawns:  Do not need watering, but if you do, provide 1-inch of water all on one day, preferably after the heat wave (heat helps turfgrass develop deeper root systems), and in the morning.  

Recently sodded lawns (within the last 4 weeks): Follow your watering schedule.  Provide extra moisture on hot sunny days.  Monitor for brown spots and provide them with extra moisture.
